More efficient and sustainable: Greater safety and range through conventional drive and brake technologies for trucks
HEIDENHEIM, GERMANY. Actively transform mobility with groundbreaking drive and brake technologies – this is what Driventic strives to do every day. As an independent successor to parts of the drive systems division of technology group Voith, the company is especially positioning itself as a specialist for efficient drive solutions in the commercial vehicle industry – with a focus on technological advancement, practice-oriented innovation, and partnership-based cooperation with manufacturers and operators. The basis for this is a customer- and future-oriented product portfolio complete with a service network for trucks, buses, and off-highway applications. All solutions are systematically tailored to the specific requirements of the respective application profiles – completely in keeping with the brand promise “Mobility beyond today.”
In addition to further developing electric drive technologies, Driventic relies on a clear dual strategy: “We will secure and expand our strong market position in conventional solutions. The breadth of our product range enables customers to achieve future-proof, reliable, and cost-efficient mobility,” says CEO Dr. Gregor Wiche. The conventional drive and brake solutions for trucks reflect the combination of an openness to technologies, many years of system expertise, and application-oriented development. They continually enable even safer vehicles with greater range, better performance, and higher availability.
Maximum safety, economy, and driving comfort
The retarders and the VIAB turbo retarder clutch from Driventic perfectly embody this principle. Both are already optimizing safety, economy, and driving comfort in numerous truck applications. Due to their almost wear-free operation, they also significantly extend the service life of the service brakes. Preventive maintenance costs and fuel consumption are lowered, and the burden on the driver is eased. In practice, VIAB turbo retarder clutches often only have to be replaced after 500,000 to 600,000 kilometers – about three times the usual distances.
With TurboCompound, Driventic offers a further approach to enhancing cost-effectiveness and sustainability. This innovative technology uses the residual energy contained in the exhaust gas to increase the efficiency of the powertrain. The result is a noticeable easing of the load on the internal combustion engine. In practice, fuel savings of up to six percent – accompanied by a corresponding decrease in CO₂ emissions – can be realized.
Lightweight construction and intelligent auxiliaries
In the commercial vehicle sector, every kilogram counts, because less weight means more payload – and more economy. That’s why Driventic relies on lightweight aluminum in its air compressors. At the same time, their technology reduces wear and extends the service life of the compressor, the motor, and the compressed air system. Intelligent solutions such as the self-actuating idling system SLS, TwinSave, and integrated clutches that further lower the energy and fuel consumption in operation contribute even more efficiency.
To supplement this portfolio, the highly elastic Hydrodamp vibration damper also makes a big contribution toward effectively protecting the truck’s drivetrain from overload and selectively reducing critical torsional vibrations. The significant reduction in vibrations and noise improves the service life of the components and, like all Driventic innovations, contributes to the comfort, economy, and sustainability of truck operation.

Highlights at a glance
With its openness to technologies, many years of system expertise, and application-oriented development, drive technology specialist Driventic is further expanding its position in the commercial vehicle industry.
For trucks, conventional drive and brake technologies continue to stand for reliable, powerful, and cost-efficient mobility.
Retarders, TurboCompound, and air compressors from Driventic make trucks safer, more economical, and more sustainable.
Retarders: Thanks to their nearly wear-free operation, retarders such as the R 115HV from Driventic significantly extend the service life of the service brakes in trucks. At the same time, they ensure that even in critical situations, drivers can count on having the full braking power.
Air compressors: A lightweight aluminum design reduces the weight of Driventic air compressors such as the LP 560. This allows for higher payloads.
