Your benefits at a glance
Best-in-class in efficiency means we are offering you the most efficient drivetrain on the market. Because in practical use, the energy consumption of our VEDS is much more efficient than most competing products. This has already been officially confirmed multiple times in independent tests. As a result, we are enabling you to efficiently increase the range of your vehicles.
Another advantage is that our modular system is suitable for all kinds of drives – whether battery-electric or fuel-cell powered. So what are you waiting for? Ensure your individual competitive edge now with Driventic.

The VEDS is an electric direct‑drive system for OEM‑independent city buses (solo, double‑decker, school and articulated buses) and coaches that use batteries or hydrogen fuel cells as power sources. The VEDS combines a water‑cooled permanent‑magnet motor with an inverter and control software. Additional auxiliary units are optionally available. Thanks to the holistic system approach, all system components in VEDS are perfectly matched from the outset – from hardware components such as the electric motor, traction inverter and high‑voltage distribution systems to software components such as drive control and energy management.
With its compact design, the drive system is particularly light, reducing energy consumption in operation and increasing range. Performance is also impressive. With torque of 3,100 Nm and power of 320 kW (30‑minute continuous power), the Heavy‑Duty (HD) e‑motor is suitable for solo buses, heavy articulated buses and double‑deckers. The Medium‑Duty (MD) e‑motor delivers 2,850 Nm of torque with 240 kW (continuous power) and is designed for medium‑duty buses.
VEDS 1.5 with groundbreaking advancements
Since mid‑2025, VEDS 1.5 has impressed with numerous enhancements. The focus is on the new DIS inverter system with integrated DMU, an automotive‑compliant connector system for fast installation as well as a more compact, lighter design – with the same high efficiency and up to 390 kW peak power. Based on ISO 21434, all common automotive cyber‑security standards are met.
The biggest advantage for our customers is that we offer them the most efficient driveline on the market. The energy consumption of the VEDS is up to 20% lower than that of our competitors. We thereby enable our customers to increase the range of their vehicles. Another advantage is that our system is suitable for all types of commercial vehicles, such as trucks or off-highway vehicles. Furthermore, it has been developed for battery electric, but also for fuel cell powered vehicles.

Quiet, reliable and powerful – the innovative drive system as the driving force
Small scope
VEDS small scope provides the basis components of an e-drive system for different bus applications. It consists of an electric motor, a traction inverter, and corresponding drive management unit. Driventic supplies different electric motors and inverters depending on the customer’s bus application. The customer can choose between the medium duty and heavy duty motor variant.
Extended scope
Besides the small scope of the electric drivetrain (electric motor, inverter, and drive management unit), Driventic supplies further auxiliary components. The VEDS extended scope includes auxiliary components such as auxiliary inverters, cables, power distribution box, charging control unit.
Four bus models, one result:
Best-in-class efficiency
The performance of our innovative VEDS is proven with the result of best-in-class efficiency in the field. In 2023 as well as in 2024. Certified by the non-profit organization Zemo Partnership for four bus models driven by our VEDS, confirmed by our two strong partners Wrightbus and Alexander Dennis.

About five years ago, Voith unveiled the VEDS, a groundbreaking solution for public transportation vehicles. Since then, numerous manufacturers have already equipped their new electric vehicles with this system. Since November 2025, Driventic – a spin‑off from Voith – has been continuing the development of VEDS and accelerating it further. Thanks to its compact design and high flexibility, VEDS can be easily integrated into electric vehicles or used to retrofit conventional and hybrid commercial vehicles, buses and trucks.
