Air compressors

High pressure for more efficiency.

Driventic air compressors, which were specifically developed for commercial vehicles, are the leading technology worldwide thanks to their two-stage compression with intermediate cooling. Because compared with single-stage air compressors, they allow much higher output in delivery mode with significantly lower energy consumption. But that’s not all: Even in non-delivery mode, our air compressors with innovative technologies ensure maximum energy efficiency and low-emission operation of your vehicles.

Your benefits at a glance

With our air compressors, we are making a significant contribution to the cost efficiency and sustainability of your commercial vehicles. The two-stage compression with intermediate cooling is a crucial aspect, as it results in a substantial reduction of power uptake in delivery mode. Moreover, the reduced compression temperature allows longer duty cycles and therefore increases the maximum delivery capacity with the same cylinder displacement. In addition, the engine oil no longer “cracks” thanks to the lower temperatures. This means that compressor, engine, compressed air system and the environment are protected due to fewer harmful by-products.

What is more, smart technologies like the SLS idling system, TwinSave, or integrated clutch reduce energy consumption in non-delivery mode. As does the low weight of the systems thanks to their lightweight aluminum construction in volume production. Your best bet is therefore to work with Driventic to achieve the next step in energy efficiency.

Operating principle

Idling systems – saving energy in non-delivery mode with SLS, TwinSave or integrated clutch

Once the compressed air system has reached its permissible filling pressure, the air compressor switches to non-delivery mode. Driventic offers three different systems to minimize the input power in non-delivery mode: the idling systems SLS and TwinSave as well as an integrated clutch for systems that do not require the fixed-drive option for auxiliary units.

Division of labor – The principle of two-stage compression

In delivery operation, air enters the first cylinder through the intake chamber, where it is pre-compressed. The heated air is then cooled in the intermediate chamber and routed to the second stage, where it is compressed to final pressure and made available to the compressed-air system.

Product portfolio

Driventic offers air compressors for commercial vehicles, trucks and buses from renowned manufacturers such as Daimler, Volvo, and MAN. Intelligent technologies such as SLS, TwinSave, or an integrated clutch reduce energy consumption in non-delivery operation — as does the low weight of the systems thanks to large-scale aluminum lightweight construction.

LP 560

The economical and particularly environmentally friendly design of the LP 560 is actually well thought out down to the smallest detail. It all starts with the extra lightweight high-pressure die-cast aluminum housing that allows for a higher payload due to its lower weight – while offering better corrosion protection and optimal heat transfer.

LP 490

The LP 490 was developed for Euro 6 engines. Manufactured in lightweight aluminum design, the two-stage compressors are standard equipment in the latest Daimler engine generation — including the Mercedes‑Benz Actros and Antos, as well as the Travego and Citaro coaches and city buses. Thanks to the two-stage principle, the air compressor saves up to 1 liter of diesel per 100 kilometers.

Our product highlight

Air compressors with TwinSave technology

Up to 25% energy savings in non-delivery operation. A true innovation: Driventic air compressors with TwinSave technology have a control valve in both compressor stages. When the valves are opened in non-delivery operation, neither stage performs compression work. The air can circulate freely within the unit.

This reduces the drive power and enables additional energy savings in non-delivery operation compared with single-stage air compressors, as well as compared with systems using the proven SLS technology.
